Hi XXXXXXX,
Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic,

As the dog is alive even after 23 days of biting you, means it is not a rabid dog.

And getting rabies by this dog is unusual as it is still living(23 days after bite).

Throat dryness is not a symptom of rabies.

But I want to know the following information :

1.Is that dog vaccination up to date for rabies ?
2.Did you wash that bitten wound immediately with soap and water?
3.Did you recieve antirabies immunoglobulin and antirabies vaccines after bite and
are you continuing them as per the schedule?
4.Did you recieve TT injection?

So please furnish the information to advise you in a better way.
Regards.

Hi XXXXXXX,
Thank you for your query,
First I want to correct my self : The dog is alive till to date (almost 53 days after the
bite).
So this indicates that this dog is not a rabid dog.
And getting rabies due to a bite by this dog is unusual.
Throat dryness is not a symptom of rabies.
My advise :
1. Give rabies vaccination to the dog as per its schedule.
2. Don't neglect any dog bite, scratch or lick in future and you should consult your
doctor for rabies prevention if it occurs again.
3. You also take pre-exposure prophylaxis with antirabies vaccine, if you have to
handle this dog or other pet dogs in future after consulting your Physician.
Hope I have answered your query, if you have any clarification please let me know.
Regards.

Hi XXXXXXX,
You are welcome,
Now you are safe, free from rabies and getting rabies from the bite experienced 53 days back is unlikely in your case.
For this episode, there is no need to take any injection.
Hope I have answered your query, if you have any clarification please let me know and if you don't have please close the session and your kind review of my answer is always welcomed to advise in a better way in the future.
Regards.
