Are White Itchy Bumps On Arms And Itching On Scalp Signs Of Psoriasis?

default
Posted on Mon, 22 Feb 2016
Question: I have little white itchy bumps that come on my arms and actually anywhere. I do not know if it is seborrhea or psoriasis. I am 93 and hae had some psoriasis for a long time. The doctor prescribed hydroxyzine but it just puts me to sleep and I have never used it much, It did give me sleep last night. My head itches worst but it is just a little red. My ears and all around them ITCH! I am good for 93 and hate to take things that keep me from driving and "living."

Brief Answer:
Seems to be Psoriasis and needs management to get rid of the symptoms!

Detailed Answer:
Warm Welcomes. I appreciate your trust in HCM and assure you are on best portal on the globe for expert online medical services.
I have thoroughly reviewed health query you raised, and well realize all of those concerns. Being your physician, I will take care all of them today and will extend my expertise to solve the problems.

Based on past disease history, past medications history and recent attack with involvement of a vast area, all suggest it to be Psoriasis

You have maintained your health well at this age. I appreciate this well controlled diet and that's too for years.

For this present issue you need to consult a Dermatologist for proper evaluation in-person and management accordingly. If I was your treating Physician and it was proved to be Psoriasis, I must have advised you to:-
Rx:-
After taking a bath apply, Petroleum jelly on the itchy skin areas for hydration of the skin.
On scalp and in external ear canal, apply CLOBETASOL Spray. This is the mainstay of treatment for controlling your ear and surrounding area itching.
If you feel face is also involved in itching, HYDROCORTISONE 1% cream is to be applied. It is low potency corticosteroid and is to be used on face and related areas.
On rest of body areas apply CALCIPOTRIENE/BETAMETHASONE Ointment.

Depending on your adherence to treatment and patience, it can be decided later on if there is anything else needed or not. It will also depend on response of your body to regular treatment.
