Are Nausea, Fatigue And Headache Signs Of Pregnancy?

default
Posted on Mon, 1 Dec 2014
Question: Hi. I had unprotected sex with my bf on sept 4. I had taken an ipill after that. On sept 12 I had my periods. They were not like my regular periods. They started around midnight and then stopped. Then resumed on 13 sept and ended on 14 sept. Then I again had unprotected sex on sept 22 and had an ipill immediately. I have not had my periods since then. Mid-oct i had started feeling nausea and fatigue with constant headaches. On 24th Oct I did a home pregnancy test which came negative. On 26oct I got blood test done which was also negative. On Oct 27 I visited a gynae and she put me on modus 10 for 5 days. I started the medicine on 27 Oct night up to Nov 1 morning. Today is Nov 7 and I am still not getting my periods. What is wrong? Am I pregnant? Should I go for an ultrasound?

Brief Answer:
May be you are not pregnant.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for writing to us about it.

I can understand your concern, though.

She should wait her period for 3-4 days more, sometime period occur in 7-10 days after taking modus.

She may not be pregnant because her blood test for pregnancy is also negative.

The menses may be delayed due to the hormonal imbalance cause by I-pill.

If she will not resume her period within 3-4 days she should work for pelvic ultrasonography test to rule out the cause.

Hope it is useful, feel free to ask more.

Good luck.
Regards
Dr. Richa

Will the ultrasound result be 100% reliable? I mean if I do not get the periods after 3-4 days also....and I go for the ultrasound... will it 100% confirm whether I am pregnant or not. assuming I am pregnant.... it would around 7-8 weeks ...can the ultrasound detect pregnancy by then? and if it says I am not pregnant can I rely on it... relax and stop worrying?

Brief Answer:
Yes ultrasound usually detects pregnancy.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Nice to hear from you again though.

If pregnancy is there, then it will normally be detected by ultrasound. It is near 100% detected by ultrasound.

So if ultrasound says that there is no pregnancy means you are not pregnant.

Hope it is clear, feel free to ask more.

Good luck.
