Thanks for contacting HCM I am sorry to hear that you have injured your knee. The symptoms for contusion of the meniscus would be very similar to a torn meniscus. There would be pain and swelling with the knee. On movement the pain will be worse but with a meniscus tear there maybe an audible click or a pop to the knee on extending the knee. The best way to differentiate is with an MRI of the knee

Hello. If the meniscal torn is not large;conservative treatment(rest, bandage, local cold application and intake of antiinflammatory drugs)during four weeks may be sufficient to recover. If torn is large or conservative treatment is not effective, may be necessary surgery, increasing recovery time.I wish you good health. (If the answe has helped you, please indicate this)

Thanks for contacting HCM. From your description of the injury it sound like you have strained the medial lateral ligament of the knee. This ligament stabilizes the knee on the inside. You could also have a torn meniscus in the inside of the knee. I recommend that you try ibuprofen or Naprosyn, elevated the knee and use ice. If no improvement then seek medical attention
