Hi, If this pain has started spontaneously without warning and there is some swelling, I suggest you see a doctor to exclude a DVT. If the pain followed exercise then it may be a pulled muscle. In this case, elevate your leg and apply ice 4 times a day. Regards, Dr K A Pottinger

Hi. It is possible that the nerve near the knee joint has been compressed or the nerve at the vertebral level can get pressed by the disc at the lumbar spine level. Need to see a Doctor ASAP and get the investigations done. Earlier the diagnosis . better is the problem and a chance to get cured or at least keep complications to a minimum.
