My Husband Was Hit In The Lower Leg By A

my husband was hit in the lower leg by a hard object. at first he did not notice it, but then he had a big lump on his leg we iced it 10-20 minutes 3 to 4 times daily it went down but then he got upon it and it caused pain. he has iced it and elevated it fro days. it has gotten softer ,but still is a small soft lump. the bruising moved down to his foot, around his ankle.
SHOULD HE USE WARM COMPRESSES OCCASIONLY TO,AFTER THE ICE.OR WHAT SHOULD HE DO.
IF HE STANDS HE HAS SOME PAIN, BUT IF HE WALKS, HE DOES NOT SEEM TO FEEL A LOT OF PAIN. IT HAS GOTTEN A LIGHTER BLUE IN COLOR. SHOULD HE CONTIUE ICE OR USE WARM COMPRESSES
