my husband takes Eliquis for heart AFib. He has blood

my husband takes Eliquis for heart AFib. He has blood in his urine and Urologist wants him to stop Eliquis but heart Dr. says No. He drinks a glass of cranberry juice (8oz.) and now seems to have more blood. Could the color of his urine be darker red than it was because of the juice?

My husband is 76 years old Last March he had the Tavr method used on him to replace his Aoerta Valve with a Bovine one.He is doin very well---feels very good , is active , eats and sleeps well His blood pressure is well controlled as well as his Type 2 diabetis. His GFR is now 23 or 24 . While hospitalized for 31 days , they did many contrast dye tests on him. He was on Dialysis for 2 months. After his surgery , he was allowed offof the Dialysis. That was such a Blessing to him. He also has an Aoerta anerysum that they have been watching for 9 years---no problem His heart rate is usually around 80. In 2014, he had Seed implants for Prostate Cancer. He also had 25 Radiation treatments and A Zoldex Hormone shot on April 3rd 2014 His last PSA test read 0.05. He has had no side effects at all. Now his Cardiologist put him on Eliquis (5 mg twice a day-)-as well as a baby aspirin. I called Squbb Myers (the manufacturer) about someone with a GFR of 23 or 24 taking ELiquis They said they had never done a Clinical Study on anyone with such a low GFR They suggested taking a lower dose for certain. HIs other doctors have said they never thought that he had AFIB but tend to go along with the cardiologist --IF she thinks this drug is necessary He never had a problem with clotting or bleeding. He has only had 2 other operations before and came through very well They were 2 Hip Replacements in 2008 and 20013 . His other meds are metoprolol(25 mg Norvasc (5mg) twice a day) Tradjenta (5mg) Glipizide(5mg once a day)Calcitrol 25mg (one tablet every Monday) Vit D (1000 units twice a day) Lipotor (10 mg one tablet every other day) Vit C (1000 units daily and Vitamin B-12 His test results are good except his blood count is 10.6---up from 7 when he was discharged fron the hosital last year .Because of his Kidneys he is Anemic--making him feel cold often His Creatinine is high but his AIC is 5.6 His cholestrol is good also. Magnesium, Potassium , Phosphate levels are well within range also. From March 7th 2016 to June 7th 2016 , his operating Cardiaologist had him on Plavix--then he said that was needed anymore He said just take a baby aspirin daily I am so concerned about this Eliquis regarding his kidneys mostly He has said that he will never go back on Dialysis again Would you kindly advise us or at least share your thoughts He had also been on Tummeric since his Prostate Cancer was diagnosed --now I think we should stop that also --as well as the daily baby aspirin Thank you so much dfor your time
