my dog is approx. 8 yrs old, a rescue dog who found us and is a wonderful dog, however lately he licks his bottom very often. He takes his heart worm pill once a month along with the flea stuff, and is very healthy otherwise. This is very irritating and he occasionally has a red swollen place on his anus, from licking. I've tried antibiotic ointment, which seemed to help, and tried bandaging, diapers, etc., none of which seems to make a big difference! What can I do to make him stop, which he does when I speak to him and say NO!
