Would Gallbladder Surgery Lead To Excessive Stress On The Liver And Pancreas During Digestion?

I have been told I need Gallbladder surgery. I have done some reading. One thing was that without a Gallbladder My Liver and Pancreas will have to work harder and therefore be put under more stress. Also the ability of my body to process certain vitamins and produce certain hormones could be a problem.

Hi,

Cholycystectomy is more or less a very safe procedure with very low side effects. Apart from some low term side effects, which go by themselves, with time, very few long term side effects have been noted due to cholycystectomy. As gall bladder acts as an organ for storing bile, which is needed for digestive process, particularly for digestion of fatty meals.

However, most of the patients undergoing cholecystectomy can lead a comfortable healthy life by undertaking a few precautions as follows:
- Avoiding more fatty meals, as digestion of fat is mainly dependent on bile
- Taking frequent small meals in place of heavy meals, particularly avoiding the fatty ingredients
- Not have fast whole day, while taking a heavy dinner

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
