Will An Unresolved Mass Formed On The Lip After Bumping It Need Drainage?

I bumped my lip a few weeks ago at a martial arts class. It cut itself on my teeth. It only bled about as much as a paper-cut, so very minorly, and of course i got a goose egg. A few weeks later the cut is healed but i still have a small hard "bump" in my lip, as if the goose egg coalesced into a small mass that isn't going away. What is it, will it go away on its own even after 4 weeks? Or is it something, like an abscess that I will need drained?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain due to injury there seems to be rupture of blood vessels due to injury with teeth leading t Hematoma Formation and the hard bump is left over as the Hematoma at times gets encapsulated by inflammatory cells released after injury secondary to inflammation, and also there is accumulation of dead tissue fibres, and ruptured blood vessels..
It takes a long time to resolve and you need not to worry as it will definitely shrink completely although slowly..
You can do alternate warm and cool compresses over it for regression of the bump..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
