Will PSA Levels While Having Prostate Cancer Increase With Rigorous Exercise?

I m 72 years old. I was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic prostate cancer 22 months ago spread to bones and lymph nodes. June 4th psa was 3, Sept. 5 was 8 and Dec. 6 was 14. Would vigorous exercise and /or long ( 50-60 km./4-5 days a week) bike rides elevate my PSA results. My oncologist took me off abiraterone (zytiga) and has sent me to see about clinical trials because of the doubllng psa scores.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear
I understand your concern
Exercise does not cause elevation of PSA level
It could be due to recurrence and metastasis of cancer.
I would suggest to consult your urologist and undergo examination and scan for better management
Many cases can be safely followed with active surveillance.
Other treatments may include a combination of surgery, radiation therapy, hormone therapy or chemotherapy
Hope this may help you
Best regards
Dr. Sagar
