Will Evening Primrose Oil Help With The Completion Of An Abortion After Embryonic Demise?

Hi! I am 3 months pregnant but unfortunately, there was no cardiac activity can be seen in my 3 times ultrasound. My ob gynecologist and sonologist already suggested that this is early embryonic demise. So my OB give me a medication to take so that all products from my uterus can be washed out through everytime i urinated. (The medicine is Evening Primrose oil). May I ask your opinion if ever I will bleed but the products will not come out, and I don t want to undergo again for d&c (this is my 3rd time already), Is there any alternative not to undergo raspa? Thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

After taking a Hormonal pill for abortion, bleeding should start more than period and clot and tissue should come out. After two weeks, a pelvic USG scan is done again to check whether abortion is completed or not.

If the product of conception is still present, then dilatation and curettage needed. Consult a gynecologist for an examination.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami
