My mother is 86 Years old and has been taking 20 mg of simvastatin every other night for many years before her first kidney cancer diagnosis, and her right kidney was removed because the tumor was huge; however, after 5 surgeries from the initial removal of her kidney over 4 years ago, other small tumors have been popping up. She had aortic stenosis; therefore, for the additional surgeries her aortic valve had to be replaced, which was with TAVR, and she now has a cow s valve. Anyway, after other operations to remove tumors, her recent catscan and MRI revealed some growth in a year with small nodules (millimeters) in her lungs and a 1 cm in her colon increased to 2cm in a year. I know that this is too much information, but I know that all of the anesthesia during these surgeries have definitely affected her memory, etc. It could be worse; however, I m very concerned. Anyway, she is resistant to taking the simvastatin because she normally falls asleep before taking it at night and has to do so every other night , which is hard for her to keep track of because of her memory loss and I don t live with her. She also has the pill case to keep track of the days. So, now to my question: Why does simvastatin have to be taken at night? She is retired and only goes out once a week with a driver. Thank you for your advice. -Tracey
