Why Should Diphenhydramine And Benadryl Gel Not Be Used Together?

Hi! For a mild reaction to a bee sting on my neck, I took a 25mg. tablets of Benadryl (Diphenhydramine) And at the same time putting on a topical Benadryl gel of 2% Diphenhydramine HCI. Both the oral tablet and gel warning labels say not to use one with the other. Why not?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

You can take both the tablet and ointments together no wrong in combining both of them. >The warning sign may be misinterpreted or wrong.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Shinas Hussain
