Why Is My Heart Skipping Beats While Sleeping?

Hello, I ve noticed lately that when I go to lay down for the evening, I become acutely aware of a skip of my heart approximately every 5-10 beats. After each skip, my heart surges. I have an appointment scheduled for a physical in approx. 3 weeks. Should I wait? I am a 46 year old female, non-smoker.

Hello!
Thanks for your query.
These symptoms may be caused from extrasystoles .
These are common in healthy people with normal heart, and they may occur on 24-hour Holter monitoring in over 60%-75% of healthy adults.
However they can be a feature of certain cardiac disease.
To diagnose these you should do :
resting 12 lead ECG
Holter monitor
full blood count and thyroid function tests
electrolytes
For further evaluation you should consult with your doctor.
Take care of your self
