Why Is My Belly And Breast Bloated Causing Weight Gain?

Hi I am a 46yr old woman. My bloating is just getting worse - belly & breasts - 2 weeks before my period. I exercise (gym) 5 days a week and this is so frustrating because during these 2 weeks of bloating my weight increases by 5kgs - I am desperate and need some advice please. I also seem to bloat after eating - I have salad for lunch (mesculin leaves, tuna, Olives and a little oil for dressing) - even something like as light as this salad can make me bloat...... Pls help

Your symptoms indicate a condition called PMS or premenstrual syndrome. Does these symptoms subside after your periods begin? if yes, then its because of PMS, which results due to hormonal imbalance and usually begins a week or 2 before your menses. Continue to stay active and eat healthy low fat foods. Reduce your intake of salt (to 3-5 gm/day-1/2 to one leveled tsp) which causes water retention in the body leading to weight gain.
Avoid processed foods due to their high salt content.

Eat a variety of fruits and consume low fat milk as these symptoms also appear due to nutrient deficiencies like calcium, magnesium etc. Include whole grain cereals in your diet, add wheat bran and oat bran to your diet. Wheat bran is a good source of B vitamins.

Make sure to de stress regularly as stress or emotional upheavals are also responsible for causing hormonal imbalances leading to Premenstrual Syndrome.

Hope this will help to relieve you from the discomfort you are having. Take care.
