What Does A Rash Around The Navel Indicate?

my granddaughter has an unraised, very fine red line that goes from her belly button in a direct line up her torso to the breast bone. it looks like an unraised scratch. her belly looks a teeny bit swollen under the belly bottom and there are blotchy looking marks that are around the belly button that look like a little rash of some sort but only very minimal. would this be of concern?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

There may be many reasons for it. It can be some allergic rash or fungal infection or eczema, atopic dermatitis, etc. You need to ask her to consult a dermatologist. But before that you can try some home remedies. Apply coconut oil in the area 3 times a day for 1 week.

Most of the skin conditions will have a very good remedy with coconut oil. If it is not getting better then consult a dermatologist who may prescribe topical creams and tablets.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sanjay Kini
