Hello, I can understand your pain and anxiety in describing your medical condition. As you said you had Bell's palsy, you will be having good idea about it. Bell's palsy is a condition in which facial muscles control is lost due to damage of a nerve (facial nerve).
Before going to treatment part, it is better to understand the cause of this condition. Th exact cause is not clear up till now. Some predicted causes are hereditary, viral infections (which cause damage to nerve) like herpes simplex and varicella zoster virus. Many more factors like injury, pollution, emotional changes may increase the risk.
As viral cause is one of the important factor, antiviral drug (valacyclovir) was prescribed to you. This was only a presumptive treatment and the main line of treatment is always 1. corticosteroids 2. physiotherapy
So there is no need of worry in using valacyclovir. Hope you can understand all the concerns and act accordingly. Hoping for a speedy recovery of your condition.
