Why Is Tamsulosin Prescribed While Suffering From Elevated PSA Levels?

My husband has been given Tamsulosin due to his prostate psa being high, but he has no trouble urinating once he starts; there is some hesitation before he begins to go, but good stream and as I said once he goes it is good. he does need to get up during the night, usually 3 times to go. My concern is a medication being prescribed when this medicine has nothing to do with condition of prostrate but his urinating and I feel as long as he is comfortable going as he is, why take the medicine when your only trying to go sooner which he isn t really worried about at this time.
