Why Is Elavil Prescribed While Having Severe Post Nasal Drip?
My pulmonologist prescribed 10 mg of Elaval to be taken once a day. Until I picked up this Rx medication, I did not know it was an Anti-depressant. I also noticed that it can treat insomnia and anxiety. I thought he had prescribed it as a Drying Agent as I have chronic Post-nasal drip. I am trying to avoid the Sinus Balloon Dilation that my ENT wants me to have. or, the FESS - - Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery. Although both have a 99.2 and 99.3 success rate from a Technical aspect of the procedure, I have found nothing about the Post-nasal Drip being manged, minimized, or reduced. My research has been mostly the website Entellus Medical. Question - - Why would my Pulmonologist prescribe 10 mg of Elaval, an Anti-Depressant?

dear the drug primary uses are Depression, Anxiety, Insomnia, Migraines, Fibromyalgia, Interstitial Cystitis, Headaches, Nerve Pain, Sleep Disorders, Chronic Pain, Neuropathy. the drug may cause dry mouth and eyes due to anti cholinergic effects but it can't uses as a primary drug for post nasal discharge.so please consult your doctor and ask him for the need of using drug he will answer correctly.
