Why Is 3 1/2 Old Having Breathing Problem?

My son is 3 and half yr. old suffering from breathing probs. one of the child specialist prescribed him to take Montek LC kid for 60 days and then report. Apart from that he is taking Ambrolite - S; 5 ml thrice a day for 5 days ; Monocef - O - 100 , 4ml twice for 7 days and Monocortil 7.5 ml twice a day for 3 days. these are the syrup prescribed by same child doctor. Is it okay to may son to take Montek LC kid. even after taking these all medicines. If so, what would be the side effect for long duration of Montek. Please guide me. Prem Dutt Dwivedi, Chennai.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,
Welcome to Hcm,
Chronic breathing problem in your son may be due to a reactive airway disease and montek is prescirbed as a prophylactic drug so that the frequency of this problem decreases significantly. Other medicines you mentioned are given as a short term treatment to relieve symptoms at present. So its totally safe and even recommended to give these medicines together and I would suggest you to follow what the pediatrician has adviced. Take care.
