Why Does The Joint To My Right Toe Occassionally Swell Up?
The joint to my right toe occasionally swells up and is very painful, I can move it downward with minor pain but moving upward caused incredible pain and seem to increase the swelling. this is the third time this has happened, and 2 of the 3 times it started 2-3 days after drinking heavily. there was no trauma (no stubbing my toe) and no excessive cramping. it goes down within 5-6 days with regular icing and minimal activity and I have been using otc ibuprofen and once I used meloxicam when it was really painful. I m suspecting a possible dislocated joint
It is possible that you have gout. This is induced by the use of alcohol though there are other foods that can cause problems as well (sardines, mussels, red meat, pork, high frutose sodas). You should consider a uric acid level.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
