Why Does A Child Not Sleep In The Night?

Hello Doc,
I have a nine month old child. he is fine through the day and takes two half/one hour naps during the day. But he just doesnt sleep through the night. Wakes up may be 10 times. I am sick and tired now. I also have a 5 year old kid. Please help

Hello. I just read through your question.This is a very common problem. Unfortunately the way to break this habit is not easy. We simply have to let the babies cry. We cannot go in to their rooms and comfort them at this age.
Most humans wake up in the middle of the night. The difference between a healthy sleeper and a not-healthy sleeper is being able to put ourselves back to sleep. The only way to learn this is to do it. The only time we should go in and comfort a 9 month old is if he is truly uncomfortable (ie: teething pain, illness, etc...). Otherwise we must allow them to cry.
