Such a pain in the left upper or lower abdomen with passing of foul smelling stool although the pain has now one indicate the following: Either there was a Volvulus of the sigmoid colon that got released or intestinal infection with some obstruction that got released. I would advise you the following in such a situation: Rush to the ER for clinical evaluation and particularly for the X-ray of the abdomen in standing position. Further tests of blood, urine and stool along with ultrasound and CT scan of the abdomen help for further proper diagnosis and proper management. Till then do not take anything orally. Get admitted if there is an evidence of an intestinal infection as then you may need intravenous fluids, electrolytes and antibiotic along with symptomatic and supportive management.
