Why Am I Losing Sexual Desire For Women?

IM 18 A GUY AND A VIRGIN. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IN MY LIFE THAT I HAVE QUESTIONED MY SEXUALITY. THE FIRST TIME WAS ABOUT A YEAR AGO. I WAS ABLE TO GET OVER IT. FOR THE PAST WEEK AND A HALF I HAVE BEEN HAVING GAY THOUGHTS AND I HAVE NOTICED THAT I HAVE BEEN GETTING SLIGHT ERECTIONS AT THE SIGHT OF SOME MEN. I have always been attracted to women and i have never fantasied about other dudes or anything like that. I have never had a girlfriend. This has caused me alot of confusion. I am still very much attracted to women but i feel as though this episode has ruined my sexual desire for women. What i want to know is this a phase or does this mean i am gay or bi.

Hi,

The important part of the answer is: medically it is not important whom you find attractive or whom you love. It’s society that makes you nervous, medically all seems to be fine. In all countries and cultures 3% of all men are gay, 5% are strongly bisexual, 10% somewhat bisexual and 82% are heterosexual. Even in animals you find a quite equal distribution of affinities. Therefore, stop worrying and find someone to love, a she or he, it doesn’t matter.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Alexander Davis, General & Family Physician
