While Eating Our Evening Meal My Husband Sometimes Cannot Continue

While eating our evening meal my husband sometimes cannot continue eating without going into the bathroom to 'get rid of' what he has just ingested. After clearing the esophagus he is able to continue eating. He has been diagnosed a year or more ago with a hiatal hernia but was not treated for it or giving any information. The doctor did not express any concern with it. However, at the time we were looking for a possible cause of bleeding rectally, which was not caused by the hiatal hernia. It was just mentioned as being there. He does not have heartburn or acid reflux. I question if he does not chew his food enough before swallowing. It seems to just land in a certain place and become lodged. Opinion please.
