Which Medical Specialist Treats Lung Cancer?

My mother in law was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer one year ago. She is taking oral medication and we recently moved her from Florida to Maryland so she is near us. She needs to follow up with an oncologist here and I am trying to locate a Dr. I don t know what to search under. When I type in Oncologist, Howard County MD. I get surgical oncologist, radiation oncologist, cancer treatment centers. Are there specialists in Lung cancer? Maybe pulmonary oncologist? The goal is to follow up and see if any medication changes are warranted. I am sure the disease has progressed but she is not willing to have surgery, radiation or chemo. Thanks, Lynn

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Hello,

In my opinion, you should take her to cancer treatment centers. These centers do have an oncologist. The oncologist will guide about effective chemotherapy in her. I don't think she is a candidate for surgery or radiation. Chemotherapy is the only option for her.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
