When Is Intercourse Safe After An Abdominal Surgery?
Ok, so last saturday I had abdominal surgery. Initially the doctor went to do a laprascopic surgery to remove my gallbladder, gallbladder was successfully removed, but doctor saw that there was an intusseception so the doctor went ahead and cut into my abdomen and removed 43 cm of intestine and my appendix. The intusseception is something that had occurred before. My question is after these procedures, how long before sex is a possibility? I am feeling fine, the incisions are healing nicely and I have no excessive pain.

Hi,
Though skin incision is healing nicely &at the most take 10 days to heal (in absence of any infection or serious fluid discharge from the stitches) Butin an abdominal there are few more layers of tissue which is also stitched apart from skin stitches.
The internal stitches take some more time to heal &few more days to get strength in the abdominal wall.
Considering all of this at least 45 days of abstinence is advisable after the surgery.
A check-up by the surgeon is ideal before starting sexual activity.
