When Does Skin Color Fully Develop In Infants?

How long does it take for a newborn s skin color to show? I have a Irish/German background, so I am fairly pale, and my boyfriend is Guatemalan/ African American and is fairly dark. Our newborn is a month and a few days old and she seems to be rather pale but is slightly darker than me. Just curious if she will be the color she is now or will she get darker overtime as she grow?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

During birth, all babies appear with the same tone due to the profuse blood circulation. During initial few months of birth, the baby color starts to come in. The original or permanent skin tone may take up to 6 months to develop. Hence, you may have to wait for a period of 6 months for your baby's skin tone to set.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
