What Will Be The Solution For The Stomach Pain Or Cramps?

Hi, my baby is 5.3 weeks old and is in alot of discomfort. she is straining alot until she violently passes wind which smells like rotten eggs (its a severe smell). the dr thought maybe she was constipated but shes having a poo every other day, yesterday it was extremely watery but again she only went the once... today she wont stop crying and hasnt settled or closed her eyes for more then 5 mins (no exaggeration). she isnt off her bottles at all and her temperature is 36.1... this tummy pain or cramps whatever they are have been affecting her since 31/12/13 but have got so much worse since yesterday. It wakes her out of her sleep when I finally get her down at bedtime . also she was on SMA GOLD but on Health Visitors advice she is now on APTAMIL COMFORT... what should I do as im a really distressed and worried mum! Please HELP. Thank you Emily

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

I have reviewed your query and here is my advise:

* The amount of straining for the child to pass stool is really great discomfort as per the narration here.
* I would recommend to consult baby with an expert pediatric surgeon for per rectal examination to rule out any stricture formation, narrowing in form of congenital malformation of the anal tract or so forth.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
