What To Do If Elbow Is Swollen, Fluid Is Accomodated After Injuring It?

Approximately 3 wks ago my husband injured his elbow, falling from a distance of 4 ft.,immediately ice was applied along with elevation and an antiinflammatory. After 4-5 days the elbow become more painful, swollen, reddened and appeared to have fluid accumulated. We have been applying warm moist heat several times daily, an elastic sleeve has been applied, along with elevation. The fluid seems to deminishing

Hello,

As per your history, it may be due to blunt trauma.

In case of swelling kindly do X-ray of that elbow after orthopedician consultation.

In the case of fluids accumulation, you may require fluid aspiration and cytology after consultation.

Avoid elbow movements. Take a rest.
