Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
iam a 30 yr old male. my height is 1.7m n weighs 65kg.. i had this terrible illness since 2004 when i noticed my face, lips and mouth started trembling/tremors when i smile or grin.. i thought tis could be due to depression.. 2 yrs later i saw a pyschiatrist and told him about my depression/anxiety. (i did mention about the tremors too) 5 yrs later i still had the 'smiling tremors' tat ruin my social and working life.. in 2010 i somehow i seek treatment from a neurologist and i was given botox injections.. it didnt help much and i was so dissapointed that i skip mental treatment and fall into severe depression and it turns to OCD after 9 months. i return back to see psychiatrist early tis year and saw the same neurologist and told him about my tremors again. he again injected me botox.. i does not improve my tremor again. but i drink alcohol amazingly the tremors goes away but it became worse the day after.. i not sure whether it is ET or not and the neurologist told me thats nothing to worry! i was like...damn.. botox is already not cheap! i done alot of research but unfortunately i have not find the solution...my worse thought is that this desease had no cure! i can't imagine my life having 2 illness - OCD and these mysterious 'smiling tremor'.. iam so loss right now and it had been 7 years...
I went through your details. I sincerely suggest, you understand the so called tremors. I advise you to ask your friends or whoever available in such venues. Whether they see or feel the tremors or not. I can assure you, nobody can see those tremors. You are the only person who ''feels'' it. You feel it because you anticipate it. The feeling cannot harm your performance, where ever you are and what ever you do. I am sure about it. No medicine can cure it because the tremor is not an organic problem and not a mental health problem. It is just a feeling. Trying ot cure it or overcoming it, worsens it. As it is not creating any troubles to your performance, you should learn to ignore it. The moment you start ignoring it, it will cease to exist.
