Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had a cough for about 5 days now with clear phlem. No nose congestion, yet heaviness behind the eyes and foggy head. Have been taking Nyquil in order to sleep. That is working well. My co worker has the same symptoms but now for over 10 days. I do not have fever nor chills. Just feel worn out. How to proceed?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of cough with clear phlegm which is due to upper respiratory tract infection/ lung infection.
Need not to worry. I would suggest you to avoid intake of sharp and spicyy food and take antibiotics such as Levofloxacin along with cough expectorants. You should take mucolytic agent as well. You should consult a Pulmonologist and get evaluated and go for blood tests, throat swab culture and chest x ray to find out exact diagnosis and start treatment. You should do warm saline gargles and avoid spicy and chilled foods. You should use mist humidifiers in room.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
