What Tests Should A Person Undergo While Diagnosing For Lupus?

My dr ordered blood lab work- CBC w/auto diff, CMP, lipid panel, folate, glycohemoglibin, Hep C antibody, HIV antibody, western blot, vitamin b12, vitamin D, 25-hydroxy- does that mean she did not order an ANA panel or is that in there? I think ordering hiv and hep c is ridiculous as I d be low risk but already have other autoimmune disorders (ie hashimoto s, allergies, Raynaud s phenomenon).....will this give the answers I want to rule out lupus?

Hello,

All these tests do not show if Lupus is present or not. Anyway, all these tests can help determine other possible causes that may mimic your symptomatology. ANA and ANCA tests are necessary to help investigate for possible Lupus.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
