What Symptoms Indicate The Presence Of Arthritis?

My name is Angelique, I m 44yrs old & I m having a lot of problems. I don t know where to begin. Most of my 30 s I was in surgery & it s all just getting worse. My body is falling apart. I ve had my left hip resurfaced, had neck fusion surgery, carpal tunnel surgery on my right wrist, & a partial hysterectomy. At least that s what they called it back then. That all started at the age of 35, till 39. ...... Probably too much info. ...... Now my knees are going. ..... One of the doctors told me I had arthritis, & bones of an 80yr old women when I was 36yrs old. .... Do you think I waited too long to find out about the arthritis?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Arthritis is a condition that affects the joints and can cause pain, stiffness, swelling, and limited mobility. There are many different types of arthritis, but the most common types are osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

Symptoms of arthritis can include:
* Joint pain and stiffness, which can be worse in the morning or after periods of inactivity
* Swelling and tenderness around the affected joint
* Limited range of motion or difficulty moving the joint
* A grinding sensation in the joint
* Warmth and redness around the joint
* Fatigue or a general feeling of malaise

It is important to see a doctor if you are experiencing any of these symptoms. While arthritis cannot be cured, it can be managed with medication, physical therapy, and lifestyle changes. It is also important to seek treatment early in the disease process to prevent further damage to the joints.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
