What Prognosis Is Recommended For This Hearing Test?

A recent hear test and external exam showed what seems to be growth in the outer canal approx. 1/8 x 3/16” diameter. It appears to be sort of hanging fro an 11:00 o’clock position. It has a small pile of ear wax against it. The other ear is clear. I’m a bit concerned this this showed up over about a 6 month period. What are likely possibilities and how or who should remove this?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It may be due to external auditory canal infection or hardened ear wax. Until the examination is done, it is difficult to say what it is.

Do not insert anything into the ear, please consult your ENT specialist so that he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
