What Precautionary Measures Should Be Taken Post Unprotected Sex?

Dear Dr,

me and my bf had an unprotected sex after 8th day of my periods, though he didnt ejaculate inside the vagina but still worried for the same as semen did come after pulling out.
Not confirmed about the pregnancy but need to get the precautions asap. What is the precaution to get rid of this tension, any oral pills without confirmning the pregancy? side effects? name of the tablets? and how easly is it available in pharmacies? Need an answer urgently.

Hi Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern....
To prevent pregnancy an emergency contraceptive pill could be taken upto 72 hours of intercourse. An IUD copper device can prevent pregnancy upto 120 days & is more successful than emergency contraceptive pill. Later on this IUD can act as contraceptive device as well.
If time after intercourse is more than 5 days. Nothing can be done to prevent pregnancy. In that case pregnancy test should be done after missing your next period.

If test comes positive, You could undergo an abortion by consulting your gynaecologist

Hope this information helps
