What Medicines Are Used To Treat A UTI?

What medicines are used to treat UTI? This is weekend and doctor is not available. I left a urine sample on Friday but results will not be completed until Monday. How should I handle this. I have cloudy urine and stomach pain and some lower back pain.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I suggest to wait till the culture reports are available and you meet the physician. If symptomatic with fever and high leucocyte count on blood examination you will need antibiotics. As inadvertent use of antibiotics will lead to resistance to antibiotics and it will be difficult to treat if resistance is seen on culture. Maintain good hydration, use citric juices, cranberry juice will be better for UTI.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
