What Medication Can Help In Increased Sugar Levels While On Januvia And Allergic To Metformin Family ?

Okay I am diabetic and am only taking Januvia one a day. I am unable to take the drugs in the metformen family because it hurts my stomach too bad. My blood sugaras are not good and my cardiologists wants by m.d. (who is taking care of me for diabetes) wants me on insulin because my numbers are too high. When I awoke this morning it was 170 at 8a.m. and when I got to work my arms and legs feel very weak and I feel out of breath. I just took my blood sugar at 10:15 and it was 312. I saw the cardio doc on the 27th and he ask me to call my doc for an appt. but he didn't think it was a rush to see me and said see you on the 10th of this month. I left my doctor a message today to see if I should come in sooner. this is the highest my blood sugar has been since the diabetes started a few years ago after I had double bypass heart surgery. My question is should this be an urgent matter or is waiting until the 10th. I am watching what I am eating and have cut down on carbs and sugars the last two weeks.

Diabetologist 's  Response
hi, I had gone through your query and understood your concerns.

The sugar level you have mentioned are higher than normal.

The other group of drugs better used to control high blood sugars is sulphonylureas.

Insulin is prescribed as a last option.
With proper diet control and exercise you can wait upto 10th. But don't delay after that.

Hope this guides you. For any other queries you can write to us. we will be happy to help you. Thank you.
