What Is The Treatment For White Sporadic Patch On Left Side Of Tongue?
Hi I have a white sporadic patch on the lateral left side if tongue. Along with a tiny hole. It's sore to touch and sensitive with foods etc. I was biopsies 9 months ago and came back 'non specific chronic inflammation' it's changed n 'spread' since then? I'm very worried now. What can this be? Should I go back to my consultant. I'm female 27 smoker. UK
I have gone through your query regarding white spot on the left lateral border of tongue which had been diagnosed as chronic inflammation on biopsy about 9 months back.
As you said that you are a smoker and this lesion you have on left side only , so let your teeth to be examined for sharp edges, misdirection and infection which may be continuously irritating the adjacent portion of tongue.
If any dental problem is detected than that should be corrected and watch for one to two weeks for this patch to be finished up.
Otherwise it will be better to do excisional biopsy of the lesion. If you are worried for conventional surgery than it may be removed by coblation also. this is a blood less surgery and is performed under local anesthesia.
Excision will give you permanent relief otherwise in due course of time it may convert to Leukoplakia and finally to cancer.
Regards.
