What Is The Treatment For The Lump Above Cuticle On Middle Finger Which Oozes Puss After Squeezing?

I have a small lump, almost feels like a pimple, just above the cuticle on my middle finger. Sometimes it is sensitive to the touch as if it is infected. When it gets inflamed, I can squeeze it to produce a clear, sticky liquid. It has caused my fingernail to have an indentation in line with the lump. It is uncomfortable but my doctor said that removing it may leave me with more pain. Is there any other treatment option?

Hello and welcome to healthcaremagic.

Seems to me that you have got an infection of the nail fold. If I was your treating doctor I would have asked you to take an oral antibiotic e.g penicillin group(Amoxycillin) for a week.

An OTC antibacterial ointment e.g 2% mupirocin twice daily can be applied over the oozing spot.

An OTC painkiller once daily would help you symptomatically.
