Hi,

I am glad you are being proactive about your respiratory condition. I does sound like the Omnicef is at least being partially effective as your cough is somewhat better. Some of these infections are viral and simply get better on their own, but I am somewhat concerned as it sounds as though it is settling in your chest. Omnicef covers a lot of organisms but it doesn't kill certain organisms that cause what is called "Walking Pneumonia". This is what I am a little worried about.

I would ask you to check back in with your prescribing physician and provide an update to him/her. They may wish to obtain a Chest X-ray and even start a second antibiotic like Azithromycin. May sure you are humidifying the air in your home and if you can purchase some over the counter Mucinex to assist in clearing out the mucus.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
