Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My friend got married in Feb’ and went to honey moon to London and retuned with a problem saying that wife is suffering from depression problem.
I want to known what is the problem. The girl is a Dr. We have observed that she was not mingling / talking much with every body. Now she is very dull and even in the face we can find that she is not well.
Poor social interaction, not mingling with others, dullness, tiredness could occur due to depression. But these symptoms are not sufficient to make diagnosis of depression. It could be adjustment disorder or due to severe anxiety or mild to moderate depression. So talk with your friend and his wife and consult a psychiatrist for making proper diagnosis. If proper treatment is taken then improvement is depressive symptoms is possible. Counselling and cognitive therapy have proven roles in depression. Medicines like SSRIs are used in depression. Fluoxetine, Paroxetine are commonly used in depression. There are prescription medicines and need consultation of a psychiatrist.
Thanks, hope this helps you.
