What Is The Treatment For Poison Ivy Rash?

I got poison ivy rash starting in May, I treated myself in the beginning but didn t work, then went to a doctor. I was give Prednisone twice. First session was 12 days (40mg for 3, 30mg for 3, then 20mg for 3, then 10mg for 3), when I was in the last day of 10mg, the rash rebounded and all itch started again. Now I was taking my second round of Prednisone (16 days), I m in the last 6th days (20mg for 1 more day, and then 10mg for last 5 days). It seems when I tapered down to 20mg, the itch started and my knee swelled (much less than last time). I felt a bit difficulty when I walked. My question is: the poison ivy or Prednisone should not impact my bone, or my nerve, is that right? Thank you!

Hi,

You are taking the right treatment for plant dermatitis , usually the plant dermatitis doesn't impact bone or nerve, the dose of prednisone that you are using its not to big and very well controlled, one of side effects of prednisone is related with bones but if you suffer from osteoporosis or are getting it for long time in high dosage. In my opinion your treatment is well controlled.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
