What Is The Treatment For Headache?

I have headaches ALL the time. I am 18 years old which is not normal. I wear my contacts so it is not my eyes. These headaches come on very strong, to the point wear I just cry. no kind of medicine helps to ease them off, I just have to go to sleep for it to ease off. I particulary get them at night before bed. Do you know what it may be?

Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

I have noted your symptoms of frequent headaches, which are severe and do not get relieved with usual medications.

The most likely cause of headaches in your case is migraine. Since you have very frequent headaches, these headaches have got transformed to chronic daily headaches.

You need to be started on preventive medications to reduce the severity and frequency of headaches. Options include beta blockers, topiramate, divalproex and flunarizine tablets.

For headache relief, you may try rizatriptan or sumatriptan tablets.

If headaches persist despite the above treatment, you may undergo MRI brain to look for any other causes of headaches.

I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you have any follow up queries or if you require any additional information.

Wishing you good health,
