What Is The Treatment For Extreme Depression?

I feel that I ve always had a long history of internal depression, and the current court problems I struggle with have also asked me to seek professional help for depression. I ve been doing some reading on my own about the subject and find myself engrossed in the topic that depression can often be a result of adult ADD, and in many of the articles find myself fitting in to many of the signs and symptoms they discuss. Is there anyway for me to research such a thing on my own and discover if the depression I suffer is caused strictly from depression, ADD or Bi-Polar disorder, or are these the questions I should seek to ask a medical professional?
