What Is The Solution For Skin Burn?

I dropped a curling iron on my bare chest last night and I am very concerned about scarring and helping it to heal. I put cold rag on it approx 20 mins after the burn happened and kept it on there for a significant amount of time last night to stop the burning/cool it down. As for last night, I put a wound gel cleanser and loose bandage over it all, and today put honey and loose bandage over it. I was told to look into getting Silvadene for it but had mild allergic reaction to a sulfa oral drug many years ago. What should I do to help this heal and most importantly reduce chance of scar?

Hello,

Chances of scar formation will depend on depth of burn and your skin threshold. You can try vaniza hc or hexilak silicone gel, thrice daily. It helps in scar modulation.

Meanwhile, consult a dermatologist nearby you for assessing the depth of the burn and further plan of management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Sandeep Golla
