Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a type I diabetic (brittle) on the pump and i have been suffering with Gastroentritis for over 30 days now. It took 2 doctor's visits, labs and finally hospitalization to learn that I had gotten this from a recent Brazil trip. To date, I am still on meds and have stomach sensitivities/pain and can't eat a full 3 meals a day. How long does this last?
Depending on the cause, viral gastroenteritis symptoms may appear within one to three days after you're infected.
Symptoms usually last just a day or two, but occasionally they may persist as long as 10 days. The fact that they have last for a month is not normal and you should probably check at your general physician.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
