What Is The Purple Horse Shoe Shaped Bruise On The Back?

My husband has a purple horse shoe shaped bruise on his back staring at his shoulder blades running to mid back and back up? Don t know of any cause for this. It look like it was going away, now it is darker than before. What could be the cause? No thank you! I don t have money to pay. He will just go see his doc. This week! Rip off!

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi,

It may be ecchymosis, which means oozing of blood in the dermis. The cause may be trauma. However, consult the dermatologist for the perfect diagnosis and proper treatment.

Thrombophob oint application might enhance the resolution of the ecchymosis. Take tab vitamin C 1000 mg daily for a few weeks.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ilyas Patel, Dermatologist
