What Is The Medication Recommended For Pain Caused By TMJ?
how can i get a doctor to take my tmj pain seriously. i cant eat half the time sleeping is dreadful for me. doctors look at me and think im seeking drugs. im 32yrs old have children look younger than i am. i think that hurts me in a doctors eyes. (people think im 18) i dont get many pain med perscriptions. im not seeking out drugs just help. i always thought thats what a doctor was for. i need advice. help me PLEASE

short-term use of over-the-counter pain medications or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS), such as ibuprofen, may provide temporary relief from jaw and muscle discomfort. When necessary, your health care provider can prescribe stronger pain or anti-inflammatory medications, muscle relaxants, or antidepressants to help ease symptoms. Medicines (called benzodiazepines) are sometimes used to reduce tension and spasm in the muscles affected by TMD. In addition, some antidepressant medicines (called tricyclic antidepressants) are used in low doses to help patients with TMD and are thought to be effective because they reduce muscle tension in patients who grind their teeth.
